Classroom Discipline Procedures

Mrs. Sanders’ Classroom Discipline Plan

One of my goals as a teacher is to provide my students with challenging, engaging, and exciting learning experiences in a loving, safe classroom setting.  I want my students to love coming to school!  Students will have rights and responsibilities in our classroom. We will discuss the rules and consequences for our classroom at the beginning of the year and throughout the school year.  As a class we have decided upon the following rules:

 1.  Follow directions quickly
 2.  Raise your hand to speak and wait to
      be called on.
 3.  Keep your hands and feet to
      yourself.
 4.  Be a good listener.
 5.  Do your best.
 6.  Be Respectful

Rewards

Classroom Money may be earned by doing things like working quietly, turning in homework, getting 100 percent on tests, returning progress reports and notes on time, having appropriate behavior (in class, specials, on the playground, etc.), helping out in the classroom, and having a clean desk during desk checks.

Students are responsible for keeping their own Classroom Money. Twice a month, students may cash his/her money in for "rewards" in our classroom store.

Consequences

However, students can also lose these rewards for not following the rules.

Students who choose not to follow the rules will:
1.  Be reminded of the classroom rule that was broken and receive a warning.
2. The student will lose classroom money and will be redirected to the correct
    behavior.
3. The student will be given a "Think Sheet" and may be asked to fill out the                     paper in another classroom. The "Think Sheet" will be sent home to be signed               and returned the next day. If the behavior report is not returned, parents                   will be contacted by phone.

4. Severe or repeated inappropriate behaviors will result in a phone call home
and the student will be sent to the office (depending on the severity of the
    behavior).

Class Incentives

To encourage a sense of community in our classroom, there will also be whole-class incentives for good behavior.

Team Points- Each week students may receive points for being ready as a
table group. The team with the most points at the end of the week will receive
classroom money to use in our classroom store.

Star Chart- As a class, each time we earn ten points in our specials, we will add
a star to our chart. When the chart is full, we will discuss what the class would
like to do for our star party. Look for more information in our newsletters
         regarding star parties.

Brownie Points – When the whole class receives a compliment for their good            behavior from another staff member or parent, they can earn a brownie point.         After so many brownie points, I’ll bring in brownies for the students to enjoy.

Thanks so much for your continued support!  I am looking forward to working with you and your child this year!  If you have any questions, please call (702-799-1920), email (lasanders@interact.ccsd.net), or send a note.

Sincerely,

Mrs. Sanders
